Too Many to Count

Too many to count--
The number of new flowers
In the last four days.

In front of my house
Fragrant lilacs, small white blooms,

Cone like purple plants.

By side of the road
Violets tremble in the breeze
From sheer excitement.

Sun plays hide and seek
Dancing in lilac petals
When cloud's not looking.

On the magic lawn
Dandelions and violets
Make their own palette.

They say it will rain,
Even thunder and lightning.
I pick up my pace.

Field of bobbing white
Was bright yellow just last week--
Dandelion trick.

Now the sky is dark;
Bright blue spots won't last long.
Absolute silence.

No rain, no thunder;
Just the dance of light and dark
Playing all around.
