Gray Light of Morning
Gray light of morning
Pouring into my bedroom
Makes me fall asleep.
The mist is in the air;
Gray clouds have come down to the earth;
I walk on heaven.
Behind tree's window
Is a lush mountain
Now invisible.
Mirrors on the road;
A goose calls from the blankness;
Two squirrels run in front.
Swelling on a leaf
Drop of water waits to fall:
Its eternity.
What a lush garden
The rotting log has become--
Unwitting mother.
Gentle taps of rain
Sound on the rim of my hat;
Echoed in the leaves.
Dim road and bleak sky;
Billowed canopies of leaves--
Green and gray rule now.
