Who Decorated?
A light morning chill
Supplements the breaking sun.
Still there are lilacs.
Subdued morning light,
Filtered through thin cloud layers
Kisses field and road.
Behind the link fence,
The cow grazes in the grass.
New place--still fenced in.
Leaf and leaf shadows
Embracing the old mailbox:
Impromptu arbor.
Break in the old fence;
Has this new spreading ivy
Been its final straw?
Ivy and shadows
Hang delicately from tree.
Who decorated?
My mind travels far:
To future, past and nowhere.
Feet still pound the road.
Misty clear sunlight
Sheds soft shadows on the road
Embracing silence.
