Again My Wonder
Sparkle in the grass;
Shiny leaves shed brilliant light;
Washing machine hums.
Morning glistening
Touches the broad leaves and grass;
Even evergreens.
Again road shadows;
Again morning play of light;
Again my wonder.
Voices from somewhere;
Mix with bird's call and dog's bark
Leaving me alone.
Unseen spoken command
Spoken in a deep main's voice;
Must be to a child.
Red pickup drives by;
Black van comes right after it;
Time of the work men.
Moisture in the air;
Thick pungent smell of the earth
Under pale blue sky.
Tall pillars of mist
Rise and float across the road
As stately as ghosts.
