With its Restless Grace

The silent wind chime
Swings woodenly in the breeze.
It has lost its sound.

Shadows on the snow

Give praise to the bright sunshine;
Icicles glisten.

Oak leaf on a snow bank--
Could be a late Autumn day
With its restless grace.

Blue on the white driveway:
Bright wrap of the newspaper
With the hottest news.

Thick tall wall of snow
Rises from dark stream below--
Mystery grotto.

Snow dunes in the woods
Flow gently around the trees;
A lone leaf skitters.

Rock and snow combine;
Make dark mysterious cave.
Small bright icicles.

This thin fragile plant
Casts its shadow on the snow
Like the giant oak.
