Tree Shadows Etching the Lawn

Black hawk skims  the trees;
Ancient white bearded mountain\
Smiles behind him.

They pay me no mind,
These tame and feral creatures
 Drinking the snow.

No squirrels and no birds;
Hum of the refrigerator
Is the only sound.

 Two kids holding hands
Walk together on the snow;
(Never too much snow).

Sky a gauzy haze
As wispy feathery clouds
Tickle its surface.

As she climbs higher,
Full breasted bird sings her song
As she hops upward.

No one's on the swing;
Tree shadows etching the lawn.
The house is empty.

 It's a long winter
Bears will be very hungry
When they come to Spring.

Fallen ornament
Lights up the dirty snow bank
Next to the mail box.

Neat pile of fire wood
Unused all this past winter;
Now a wall in Spring.
