Sun and clouds dancing
With the wind as conductor--
Visual concert.
Years of wind and rain
Have softened the wooden barn--
Rubbed imperfection.
Wind, sun and shadows;
Water makes an instant marsh--
A sped up see-saw.
Does this log get tired
Leaning always on the tree?
(It's just wood, silly).
Dead logs fill the woods
Scattered in all directions.
They are returning.
A single brown leaf
Catches the rays of the sun;
Then the clouds move in.
The two stump buddies
Collect yet another friend--
Red willowy plant.
Like a flag of truce--
White refuse waves from a ditch.
Surrender? To what?
