Clouds Slow Dancing With the Sun

Outside my window
Green and yellow leaves are framed;
Inside, furnace hums.

Patchwork sky today;
Clouds slow dancing with the sun;
Flashes of bright and dim.

Window or a fence?
It really keeps nothing back
And lets the view in.

The very last blooms
With dead leaves in bare bush--
Helter skelter mix.

It was a fresh break;
Severed stump is clean and white;
Broken limb nearby.

From unseen places
Trucks grind and machines rumble--
Last days of building.

Poised, ready to fall,
Rock hangs from the gray slate wall.
Above, geese honk south.

Locked in an embrace
Winding around each other
Two wooden lovers.
