What Difference the Clouds
What difference the clouds--
Colors subdued, the air chilled;
Humming of work trucks.
Curved sinuously
A piee of shiny wood lies
Imitating snakes.
She pokes through the fence
Nibbling the greener grass
(On the other side).
Dried out husks of grass
Lean askew against fence--
Last year's shining blooms.
She's no longer here
Who planted these bloom and died.
The sun now feeds them.
Between the two trees
Delicate branch suspended:
Natural stabile.
Cloud of white flowers
Hang above the old tree stump--
Nimbus of respect.
Now green leaves have come
To twig that holds the ghost seeds.
Are they immortal?
