School in a Hammock

School in a hammock
Seems like a good place to be--
Relaxing research.

Small bird through the screen
Hops about from branch to branch--
Nervous, persistent.

Lilacs in my yard
Move slowly towards fruition;
I, only, can't wait.

Singing in the yard,
Sound barely reaches the fence--
Three light voices lift.

Deep in the forest
Woodpecker rattles his tune:
Morning percussion.

Dandelion puff
Next to the blooming flower
Foretells its future.

Sprinkles in the sky
Small flowers from a tall tree
Twinkle their faint light.

Smiling she said "hi";
Now, she's a speck on the road.
Hello's and good bye's.

Bright spirit of May;
In the blossoms and the sun
And light dancing feet.
