Silence on Silence

Thick flakes descending
On a passive white landscape;
Silence on silence.

Steadily falling,
Legions of descending white.
Winter storm has come!

Sitting on a branch
With his head tucked on his breast
Bird endures the snow.

Slowly the stream fills,
Dark water covered with white.
And still the snow falls.

The road is a blank
Ready to be written upon
By footprints and cars.

The small pine saplings
Bent forward with snow on tap
Just like the big guys.

Gliding through the snow
The white mail truck passes me
It small light flashing.

The thirsty mail box,
Mouth open, tongue hanging out
Lapping up the snow.

The endless driveway
Looks like it will disappear
In persistent white.
