Somewhere a Pump Throbs

Dripping icicles
Glint brightly in the sunshine--
Liquid into Spring.

 Bright sunlight flattens
The shadows into the snow--
A winter parchment.

Bird chirping softly;
Humming of the transformer;
Singing of the woods.

Chickens are clucking
On this sunny cloudless day.
Somewhere a pump throbs.

Above the steel fence
Wild twisted naked plants grow,
Grasping at the sky.

A row of shadows
Line the snowbank by the road--
Straight and orderly.

 Full of old brown leaves,
Tree presents its foliage--
Presence of Autumn.

With a peaceful smile
Goddess sleeps beneath the snow,
Still staring at the stars.
