A Winter Cherub

Icicles gleaming--
Dropping into the sunlight;
Swaying so gently.

Branch rests on the snow;
Limbs want down and ground wants up--
Touching each other.

Birds in the bushes
Flit silently bush to bush
Casting small shadows.

A hint of a stream
Whispering so silently
Under snow's blanket.

Driveways are carved now--
Neat curved channels in the snow.
Nature is subdued.

 Woods are still silent;
The sunlight awakens nothing
But shadows on snow.

The road is shiny,
Where sunshine is melting the snow
Ever so slowly.

Bundled Iona
Snuggled pink against the snow--
A winter cherub.
