Belongs in Heaven

My lilacs don't smell;
Woodpecker pecks listlessly;
Luminescent leaves.

Sun glows through the leaves
Making them patterns of light
Shaking in the breeze.

Man and dog jogging;
Dog's tail like a metronome
Keeping his woofy time

Music from the woods
Floats soft and sad in the breeze;

I grieve in my joy.

Shadows on the moss;
Easy sound of flowing stream;
Chirp of kid's laughter.

Phalanx of walkers
Seems to float gently towards me;
Sound of soft murmurs.

Anything softer
Than this bright warm May morning
Belongs in heaven.

Lazy woodpecker
Takes his time on the tree trunk;
He knows he will eat.
