Through kitchen windows
Sunshine lands on the table
Glistening grapefruit.
Outside, tree limbs shake;
Inside, there is just stillness.
Two parallel worlds.
Parked against the barn
Ancient wooden wheelbarrow.
What year are we in?
Little peaks of ice
Rise from the rushing water:
Castles on the stream.
Empty wooden bench
Faces the snow covered lawn.
Sound of woodpecker.
Loud hollow rattling--
Woodpecker hammers away;
Unlucky insects.
Pieces are falling
From sedimentary rock;
Has taken eons.
As my thoughts wander
World becomes invisible.
I open my eyes.
