Yay! Dandelions!
In only one day
Buds are blooming everywhere,
Even in my yard.
Hanging round and dry
Black seed pod against the sky,
Absent life, color.
Buzzing near my nose
Annoying first bug of Spring.
More are yet to come.
Tipi in the woods
Bleached, beige, dry wood left standing;
Home to bugs and mice
Like a hungry tongue
Shelf fungus sits on tree stump
With nothing to lick.
Showers of yellow
In woods and by the road side--
Yay! Dandelions!
Familiar buzzing:
Plump black-yellow creature flies;
The first bumblebee.
He stood in winter
Stone head just above the snow;
Now he adores blooms.
