Is There A Smile There?

Chill is in the air;
A slight cough is in my chest;
Oh complain! Complain!

White fluff on my lawn--
Regular guest every Spring.
(Don't know what it is).

Drooping daffodils
Weighed by the weight of their heads--
They must think too much.

Sudden burst of white;
Trees have flowered overnight.
Spring's magic made real.

Reaching cross the road
Budding tree calls to its neighbor:
"Your turn will soon come."

Like a picture frame,
Broken fence and field beyond
Dandelion view.

St. Francis standing
With his flock of flowers.
(Is there a smile there?)

Two hooded figures
Sitting beyond the steel fence,
Murmuring softly.
