While Viewing the Sky

Sky is full of rain;
Leaves are shivering in the wind;
Then some softly fall.

A ray of sunshine
Breaks briefly on to the leaves
And then it is gone.

The tricky window
Lets us see the rough barn wall
While viewing the sky.

 As if from nowhere:
Moving body on the road:
Jogger chugs on by.

Sun breaks through the clouds--
Small car stirs whirlwind of leaves;
Distant chain saw calls.

Unseen in the brush:
Lackadaisical woofing;
Just Mabel barking.

In this dying time
The stalwart stalk swells with buds
And one yellow bloom.

Cars are unfriendly--
Not a single returned wave;
Weekenders perhaps.
