A Falling Shadow

The small plants lights up,
Basking in the Autumn sun.
(Everything lights up).

Thousands shades of green;
A million sunlight dances;
Swellings of orange.

Stepping on a leaf;
It crackles dry complaining;
I didn't see it.

Hiding in the bush:
Little aster clump peeks out
With fresh bright blue eyes.

This old wooden post
Hosts flowers and growing things
Just by being there.

Small round empty can
Escapes the garbage cruncher.
Fate's fickle finger.

I nurture mean thoughts;
Then a light touch on my head:
A falling Zen leaf.

Those bright red berries--
Have they been here all summer
Waiting for winter?

A falling shadow
Flickers brief on the road,
Turns into a leaf.
