Silly Snow Boulders

A burst of sunshine-
This yesterday's tomorrow;
How bright the shadows.
Aluminum pail
Upside down next to my house
Waits for Spring water.

Hens cackle, crows caw
In the service of sunshine
And promise of Spring.

A swift flash of red:
Flicker of a cardinal's wings
Into the pine trees.

Is the moss greener
In the bright light of the sun?
Whose magic is it?

Silly snow boulders
Don't fear the melting sun's rays;
They just glow and gleam.

In earthen basin
Shards of ice like broken glass
Next to strewn bottles.

Near the rusty tub
Tiny green sprouts have sprung up--
The first crocuses!
