It's The Same Old View

It's the same old view
Framed in my kitchen window.
Wind chime is moving.

All sunshine has fled
Leaving subdued blue gray clouds.
(Where could it have gone?)

Collette licks her friend;
Olivia lifts her head--
"That really feels good."

Misplaced pine cone lies
Cradled in the strange branches
Where it has fallen.

Trees in the water
Reflecting the blue gray sky
Ripple with the stream.

The road is silent--
No birds, no dogs and no cars.
Just the singing woods.

Anchored to the stump,
Tree's not going anywhere.
(Good thing for the stump).

The ancient stone wall
Runs deep into the forest;
Lost its origin.
