Season's Seasoning

Still, the snow shovel
Leans against the front window.
Second day of Spring.

Forsythia bush
Is a blur of light green leaves.
Flowers will follow.

Forsythia blooms--
Buds evolve into blossoms;
Sky is gray and still.

New chives on the ground--
Little pungent spiked clusters:
Season's seasoning.

Flashing down the road
Cars race by focused ahead.
(There is no behind.)

Buds turn into blooms;
Leaves turn into swelling buds.
Happened overnight.

White patch by the road;
New ethereal mushroom?
No! Discarded trash.

Flurry of action:
Orange Woodstock trucks abound,
Clearing the ditches.
