A blanket of white
With a billion small white flakes
In the sky/below.
In utter silence
Whiteness descends on the earth,
Relentless and soft.
Olivia eats
Mountains of free fallen snow;
(Collette eats her hay).
In the bird feeder
Cardinal pecks incessantly,
Ignoring the snow.
Islands in the stream,
White capped--blanketed with snow
Mutes rushing water.
Now it can't be seen,
Words indecipherable
Censored by the snow.
They're coming towards me:
My own foot steps approaching:
Snow practical joke!
The mailbox has grown,
It's doubled its former height,
Compliments of snow.
