Colette's Bovine Butt

The the morning mist
Sun breaks in little ripples
On the drops on plants.

Green rhododendrons
Nestle a dead fallen leaf
Lightly and gently.

Colette's bovine butt
And Olivia's horned head--
A composite cow!

 Chicken in the grass
Pecks at the delicacies
With contented clucks.

Mushroom on the stump
Softer than the rotting wood,
Newborn as the day.

Loud clatter of feet
Breaks the still, vibrant silence:
A jogger clumps by.

Acorn on the road
Finds inhospitable home--
Gravel and hard tar.

Birds chat in the sky;
Their voices merge in the air
And then blow away.
