It's a Full Moon Day

Bright spot on the floor--
I reach down to wipe it off:
 A piece of sunlight.

It's a full moon day;
Shadows look a bit deeper;
Luminescent sun.

 High on the wood pole
The transformer hums lightly
A song to the wires.

Without a whisper
Small bird flies across the road.
(Was it ever there?)

A bright morning hush
Sweeping across the shadows
Touches the tree tops.

A loud humming bush
Holds a thousand busy bees--
Dedicated choir.

The woods seem endless;
Sun and shade go forever.
Where is the pond now?

Forest  turning brown;
Fallen leaves are a blanket
For the tender earth.

Hear the singing woods,
High pitched voices without words.
Bird flies from a bush.

Some trees are bare now;
Their skeletal limbs reaching,
Reaching to the sky.

He did not make it--
Leaving the nourishing earth
To cross the hot road.

Laden with promise,
Milkweed pods swell in sunshine.
Look! One has broke free!
