(Aided by the Bees)

Cardinals on my porch;
Lilacs blooming in my yard.
Doesn't get better.

Shadow of the tree
Shines through bare forsythia--
Sunlit dark presence.

A singular goose
Hawks his way across the sky
Leaving just his cry.

Ready to take off
Dandelion seeds are perched
On the start of life.

 Two birds on the wire
Look like they are attached--
And then they are gone.

A black and white cat
Watches me from the driveway--
Then comes for a scratch.

 Flowers are singing
A chorus of peaceful hymns
(Aided by the bees).

Sunlight through the leaves
Illumines and transforms them
Into a green glow.

Floating from Hills and Houses

Another set of two days,
May 10 and May 11--Tomorrow we'll be back to normal.

Lilacs are blooming
Next to my kitchen window;
Soon, there'll be perfume!

 Transparent green world
Glows through the sunlit branches;
Birds flutter to feed.

A gentle breeze shakes
The delicate white flowers
Of the new bloomed tree.

They are starker now:
These Queen Anne's skeletons
In the fields of Spring.

Littering the road,
Dropped forsythia petals
Return to the earth.

There are more voices
Floating from hills and houses
On this warm Spring day.

Little white flowers
Bloom by the side of the road
Unfazed by the cars.

Small bird in the woods
Calls loudly for its soul mate--
(There is no response)

Violet peeks around--
The lilacs are now in bloom
Outside my window.

 Forsythia blooms
Have dropped, blown or flown away;
Now a memory.

Two contented cows
Munch in the warm Spring sunshine
With defined purpose.

Poised above the trees:
The pale ghost of last night's moon
Reflects memory.

The last tree to bloom
Was the first to lose its leaves.
(It has its own race).

Dandelion puff
Beating her lazy sisters
To catch the breeze.

The dead pine needles
Are brought to life by the sun.

 (Some road side magic).

Winter walk's return
Was always so much warmer.
(Now, it's just plain hot).

We Both Share the Tune

These are from several walks between April 29 and May 9, 2015.  Being somewhat anal, I find it to be quite courageous to publish several days of haiku instead of just one. Breaking tradition and all that.

It's late in the day;
Now, the morning is over...
A sunny Spring day.

Ugly fucking squirrel
Destroyed my thermometer--
I will destroy it!!

This idyllic barn
With a new inhabitant:
Ghost in his new home.

Poking through driveway--
Persistent heads of sunshine:
New dandelions
.

Winter is over;
The road sign is now erect:
Pulled up by the sun.

Errant piece of dust
Floated onto my finger;
Then lifted away.

Today, the sunshine
Softens the songs of the trees
And makes them whispers.

A lone bee buzzes
Filling the air with humming.
We both share the tune.

What is as rare as
Bright sunny day in May?
(Another bright day.)

Pressing ever up
Tiny plane slices the sky
Leaving two pieces.

Mosaic shadows
Fall upon the passive road--
Artist and palette.

White lilacs push through
Forsythia's yellow haze--
Battle of colors.

These woods were white once;
But only in memory.
Soft breeze shakes the leaves.

Walkers on the road
Stopping for a photograph.
Boy says, "wait for me!"

A friend stops to talk;
We chat and then he drives away.
(My heart is lighter.)
