Bird feeder's crowded;
Lady Cardinal waits her turn.
It's food in the snow!
Giant snow flakes fall:
A layer of winter white,
This April second.
No longer waving
Branches bow beneath the wait
Of billion soft flakes.
Now filled with whiteness
Queen Anne's Lace husks take new form:
Some bouquets of snow.
Now flowing with white
Swift stream always keeps its course
With or without snow.
Woods are white again
A springtime April Fool's joke;
(On April second.)
Chugging up the road
Snow truck monster makes its way.
Beware stray snow flakes!
Their tops crowned with white
Young evergreens bow their heads:
Silent, snowy prayer.
Chuckling to myself
I forget what's funny;
Oh! The joke's on me!
