Old Habits Die Hard

Bald forsythia--
Soon more petals on the ground;
Then wait til next Spring.

Crazy woodpecker
Pecks the railing, climbs the slats.
(Old habits die hard)

Flying to his perch
Cock crows again and again.
Hens scuttle below.

Soft April morning
Overlaid with shifting clouds.
Still, the shadows fall.

Clouds shift and sun shines;
Shadows appear on the road;
Then clouds shift again.

Two friends chattering
Don't hear the silence around;
Only hear themselves.

Garbage on the ground
Flows from the toppled trash can.
Bears have been busy.

Pink petaled flowers
Bloom untended on their tree;
Forest sings softly.
