Shadows, Leaves and Old Footprints

 Sun breaks over snow;
Tree limbs tremble in the wind;
Icicle dripping.

Temperature rising;
Icicles steady dripping;
Sun slides through the clouds.

Cooing morning dove
Softening the morning air,
Joined by another.

A soft morning breeze
Floats up the shadowed roadway,
Whispers in my ear.

They've been here since May
When they were puffed whiteness spheres.
(Brown since September).

A time of softness:
Shadows, leaves and old footprints
Sinking with the snow.

Shadow on his perch,
Crow calls again and again;
Leaves the air empty.

Sunlight glittering
On the slowly melting ice
Foreshadows the flood.

In a silent flash
Deer races across the road;
I see its white tail.

Hollow bass rumble
Of a woodpecker nearby.
He has a big drum.

Two different tweetings
Echo from the high branches;
Must be some new birds.
