Drowning Out the Sun

Air purifier
Hums loudly on the inside
Drowning out the sun.

 Restful the sunshine
Touching the tops of the trees
Which twitch in response.

 A dog on my chair?
What will be there tomorrow,
A few kangaroos?

 A piece of old fence,
Evergreens and some sunlight:
A fairy portal.

  Ice is forgotten,
Melted in the sound of the stream's
Liquid obsession.

 Surviving snow banks--
Filthy, gray at the road side,
Still hide from the sun.

Wood man in the tree,
Eyes hooded, watches the road
With eternal stare.

 Does the jogger feel
Anything but her fatigue
As she puffs past woods?

As Flitting as the Sunshine

Bird past my window,
As flitting as the sunshine
Drawn by the soft clouds.

Now the sun has gone;
In seconds it will come back.
Early springtime tag.

Cat in my window;
(Hasn't been one for long time);
Watching me watch him.

Shadows, windows, fence--
Sharp lines define the barnyard.
Soft gray spheres the sky.

Walking towards darkness,
Clouds let road envelop me.
The wind is humming.

Woman and her dog
Walk together on the road
Each in their own world.

Small lakes on the road
With hundred tiny mirrors.
(Driver's nemesis).

Red, white and blue truck
Crawling its way along the road,
Connecting the world.

Mysterious Bends (Walk of April 3)

Past a distant fence
Form of a person passing;
Then it's all the past.

Rhododendrons shake,
Delicately in the breeze.
Their time's not far off.

Rooster gathers the hens;
They all run away from me,
Save one unperturbed.

The broken ladder
Has become piece of found art:
"Wood Steps Reclining."

The shadows are back--
And with them comes the sunshine:
Buddies forever!

Mysterious bends,
More mystery in sunshine
And dappled shadows.

Last Spring's milkweed pods,
Now husks in the bright sunlight.
(The sun doesn't care).

Outdoor lawn party
Excluding all of the guests
(And all of the lawn.)

The Snow Drops are Here!

It's rain without rain;
Sun's hidden behind the clouds;
Everything seems wet.

Without the sunshine
This Spring doesn't feel like Spring;
Fuck April showers!

As snow disappears,
There's still starkness on the land.
This in between time.

Stately Pompous grass,
Shiny and flowering last summer--
Beaten to the ground.

Yesterday's shadows
Have fled from the long dim road.
Unseen crows argue.

The Rock King watches--
Stolid and immovable;
As the world slips by.

Leaning on the pole;
Now devoid of purpose:
Fallen number 2.

Springing overnight:
Congregation of white blooms.
The snow drops are here!

Like a Passing Train

Is it really Spring?
Warm and the sun is shining;
(Perhaps April Fool).

Stream is glittering;
Sparkling light across the street;
Water flows swiftly.

Solitary snow
Like an island on my lawn
Swiftly retreating.

Chickens on the lawn
Peck goodies from the earth.
Rooster keeps crowing.

Shadows on the road;
Relentlessly rushing stream;
Woodpecker's brief throbs.

Snow is receding;
Stream bed is full of water.
Sky is crystal blue.

A small no see um
Flies briefly around my eyes;
Oh God! Bugs are back.

The giant oil truck
Down the road, the sound of speed
Like a passing train.
